High calcium lime putty ideal for producing lime putty mortar, lime plaster, renders, stucco, restoration work and green building.

Our Traditional Lime Putty is produced in Italy from 5" to 10" lumps of high purity calcitic limestone (CaO>98%). It is fired at low temperatures (<1000° C.) in indirect flame, natural draft, continious production vertical kilns fueled by wood waste from an adjoining lumber mill.

NOTE:

Grassello may contain some particles of dehydrated lime!

Occasional small pieces of dried (carbonated) lime putty inevitably fall off the equipment which transfers the slaked lime from the vats into the buckets, A VERY MESSY BUSINESS!  This is a testament to the ARTISANAL production of our lime putty and in no way these inclusions are detrimental to the quality and performance of our lime putty.

These lime “aggregate" particles are actually WELCOME in restoration where they resemble the underburnt/over burnt lime particles inclusions often present in original historic lime mortars.

GRASSELLO can be screened or filtered in order to remove these particles and be suitable for lime paint, fresco and fine plaster finishes. Or select our CREMA DI CALCE  (Micronozed Lime Putty).

Ask a Question
  • I am looking for a product that is used like conventional stucco, but using Lime instead of cement. Do you have a product that can be used as a 3 coat application to match an existing historical bldg. in DC? The owner wants Lime stucco instead of cement based stucco.

The Grassello lime putty is a traditional material imported from Italy. It is ideal for this application.
We also have Otterbein NHL products that are all well suited for cement substitutes.
