Sarco Multi Glaze Putty - Type M - 1 Gallon

Sarco is rated top window restoration putty!

  • Type M is designed for interior shop work
  • Type M is faster drying than Dual Glaze
  • Type M adheres in wood sash and door applications
  • Type M is generally softer than Dual Glaze. To stiffen it up, you can get it a little cold or add whiting so it is easier to work with. Some people lay the putty flat on cardboard to soak some of the oil out, however Type M is better with more oil in it

For glazing and bedding glass in both wood sash and doors. Ready for use and for easy application under the knife and thumb. A modern glazing compound that remains elastic. Allowing for normal expansion and contraction. Adheres to all glazing surfaces, forming a permanent watertight bond between the glass and sash.

Coverage: One gallon of putty will cover 336 linear feet

Painting + Priming: If priming before applying Sarco, it is recommended to use an oil based primer. After Sarco has skinned, it may be painted with oil or latex paints.

Meets Federal Specification TT-P-781A Type I

Questions & Answers

Have a Question?

Ask a Question
  • Can I paint directly over Type M with Linseed Oil Paint? If so should I wait fir it to skin over or paint it immediately as is recommended with Linseed Oil Putty?

Yes, you can paint over Type M with Linseed Oil Paint. Wait until the putty is dry, this will take about 1-2 weeks.

  • How long should I wait before exposing the new glazing to outside weather? If removing the sashes is too problematic can I apply the product in situation or should I use a different product?

Sarco Type M is designed for indoor work once the windows are removed. Depending on weather conditions it will glaze over as quickly as a few days.
Sarco Dual Glaze is designed for windows still in the wall.

  • I purchased sarco multi glaze. I primed before glazing. Do I need to prime the glazing with oil base primer before painting OR can I paint directly onto the window glaze with latex paint?

Priming is not required, always use a quality exterior paint. Also make sure the sarco putty has sufficiently dried which can take 2-3 weeks.

  • do you need to prime before glaze

Yes, it is recommended to prime before glazing, this applies to both wood and metal sash. Preferably an oil based primer.
