Stiftsruin Bad Hersfeld

Renovation of the monastery ruins in Bad Hersfeld with NHL from OTTERBEIN

The monastery ruin in Bad Hersfeld is the ruin of the collegiate church of the former abbey Hersfeld in Bad Hersfeld. Considered one of the largest Romanesque basilicas north of the Alps, it is today the largest Romanesque church ruin in the world. Today, it is, among other venues, the venue of the well-known Bad Hersfeld Festival.

In order to preserve the collegiate ruins for posterity, the monastery ruins will be restored from time to time. For this we used our Naturally Hydraulic Lime HYDRADUR ® NHL 5 . Through the use of these high-performance binders, durable mortars can be produced based on historical models, which have a high elasticity and a continuous, low-tension hardening course, effectively preventing wall or plaster damage to the historic building.
