Ottosson Färgmakeri Swedish Cold Pressed Boiled Linseed Oil

Swedish cold-pressed boiled linseed oil of the highest quality. The oil is stored for at least 6 months after being pressed so that any slime products may settle, and then it is heated to approximately 140°C (284°F). It is a natural treatment without any chemical additives. The absolutely pure linseed oil is then decanted to another storage tank.

Applications: Purified Boiled Linseed Oil is a refined, cold-pressed linseed oil, used as a surface finish on unpainted, varnished, or painted wooden surfaces that are clean and dry. The oil is easy to apply with a brush, sponge, or cloth. Raw linseed oil will not dry, but when boiled it will dry and form a protective surface finish. This boiled linseed oil is also used as a binding agent in all Ottosson Linseed Oil Paints.

Uses

  • Use as a thinner for linseed oil paints
  • Create your own primer by mixing boiled linseed oil with balsam turpentine and white titanium zinc linseed oil paint! (paint is optional)
  • Use alone or w/ varnish
  • Use to finish wood

      Questions & Answers

      Have a Question?

      Ask a Question
      • Is this completely pure BLO? As in the only ingredient is linseed oil that has been heated to it's polymerization temperature? I saw someone mention online that there was magnanese salts or solvents but didn't see it on the SDS

Yes, this boiled linseed oil is traditionally made and imported from Ottosson in Sweden. The oil is all natrual and contains no additives or driers.

      • How long does your boiled linseed oil take to dry when applied on bare wood? Also, what if any metallic driers are used in it's manufacture?

There are no driers used in this linseed oil. It is made traditionally and contains no additives. Typical drying time depends on some factors, such as the environment - temperature & humidity - but typically should take anywhere from 24-72 hours to dry!
