Ottosson Färgmakeri Swedish Linseed Oil Paint - For Rust Protection

Graphite

Keep in mind that Graphite rubs off a little when rubbed, so choose to paint on surfaces where this is not a problem.

Graphite is especially suitable for painting iron and sheet metal . The pigment consists of a fatty mineral carbon that is also used as a lubricant and for pencils. Surfaces painted with Graphite linseed oil paint get a beautiful slightly shimmering luster. On bare iron outdoors, first prime with our iron primer as rust protection.

Example: A painted metal roof is heavily exposed to UV light, ice and snow, and therefore the linseed oil that binds the paint together quickly breaks down. If the roof is then painted with Graphite, the oily pigment holds the paint surface together in a fantastic way and the roof stays beautiful year after year.

You can of course paint with Graphite on wood and other surfaces as well!

Iron Oxide Minium (Järmönja)

Made from Swedish cold-pressed boiled linseed oil and color pigments. Suitable for painting both indoors and outdoors.

Iron ore is used as a RUST PROTECTION PAINT. The pigment Hematite is a natural iron oxide that has a structure reminiscent of fish scales and together with linseed oil it provides extremely effective protection against rust. Use the paint as a primer on iron. Apply two thin layers.

On corroded iron, first wire brush away the loose rust. The surface does not need to be shiny. The iron oxide penetrates corroded surfaces and prevents further corrosion.

If you then want to paint over the ironwork with a different color, you can use one of our other linseed oil paint colors.

Optimal rust protection is achieved if you choose our linseed oil paint Graphite, which is a traditional color for iron.

NOTE:  The color sample shows three different colors. (Top) the standard color, (left) a mixture of equal parts by volume of the standard color and White Titanium-Zinc (1+1), and (right) a mixture of one part of the standard color and three parts by volume of White Titanium-Zinc (1+3). You can mix these different colors yourself.

Iron Oxide Pigment

Iron ore is hematite, which is a naturally occurring earth pigment.
The pigment has a special ability to prevent rust formation on iron as the pigment's structure resembles fish scales that form an armour pattern.
In combination with linseed oil, this makes it very difficult for water to come into contact with the iron.
The pigment has the advantage of not being harmful to health and is therefore replacing the toxic lead ore as a rust protection pigment.

The pigment is fully lightfast and suitable for all paint types and painting techniques. It also has a strong covering power and can also
be used in water-based media, such as mud paint.

The pigment is included in the standard color “Järnmönja.”
