Sarco Multi Glaze Putty - Type M - 1 Quart

Sarco is rated top window restoration putty!

  • Type M is designed for interior shop work
  • Type M is faster drying than Dual Glaze
  • Type M adheres in wood sash and door applications
  • Type M is generally softer than Dual Glaze. To stiffen it up, you can get it a little cold or add whiting so it is easier to work with. Some people lay the putty flat on cardboard to soak some of the oil out, however Type M is better with more oil in it

For glazing and bedding glass in both wood sash and doors. Ready for use and for easy application under the knife and thumb. A modern glazing compound that remains elastic. Allowing for normal expansion and contraction. Adheres to all glazing surfaces, forming a permanent watertight bond between the glass and sash.

Coverage: One quart of putty will cover 84 linear feet

Painting + Priming: If priming before applying Sarco, it is recommended to use an oil based primer. After Sarco has skinned, it may be painted with oil or latex paints.

Meets Federal Specification TT-P-781A Type I

Questions & Answers

Have a Question?

Ask a Question
  • Sarco says the Type M putty is for in-shop application. How long should the window be kept indoors? Until the glazing has been painted?

You should wait until the Sarco skins over before painting, which will take about 10 days (depends on temperature and humidity).

  • Sarco lists you as where to buy the Sarco Milti-Glaze Type M in Connecticut. However the quart container you picture in this ad. is not the same as shown on the Sarco website. What is the difference? Thanks

The Sarco quart containers are not always the same but the one used for this picture is the updated quart container.

  • Hi, just checking if you have the quarts of Sarco Multi-Glaze Type M in stock. And are those direct from Sarco? I hadn't seen quarts of putty and just wanted to check. And how quickly do you normally ship out? Thank you.

Yes we have Sarco quarts in stock and they are direct from Sarco. Orders are shipped out the same day, or the day after the order was placed if we are very busy.

  • Is it okay to glaze the inside of 65-year old wood porch windows? I have glazed outside of all 15 porch windows but in winter there is some fogging on several of the windows. Thank you. The inside paint is flaking off and I need to paint inside of all windows. I have after market storm windows (hung inside) These may be cause of the fogging but I need the warmth as I use the porch as my painting studio in winter.

If the windows originally had glazing then first remove the old glazing or failed areas, clean and allow for the surface to dry then re-glaze.

For specific questions please contact Sarco directly:

  • My putty skinned over in 24 hours, not 10 days. Can I paint it?

As long as it has sufficiently skinned you are able to paint over it. Sarco recommends to wait a day or so when you deem it skinned before you start painting.

Good source of Sarco glazing putties

Atlas Preservation stocks a variety of Sarco glazing putties at a good price. Also, I like their use of the USPS for shipping, easy to track especially with USPS Informed Delivery emails.
