Sakrete: Cement Mix Accelerator 1 Gallon
Accelerates the setting time of concrete or mortar

Speed up the job with Sakrete Cement Mix Accelerator. This calcium chloride-based admixture is designed to accelerate the set of all Portland cement-based materials, allowing for pours in cold weather or other time-sensitive conditions.

Perfect for winter work or tight schedules, this accelerator helps teams pour and finish concrete faster without sacrificing overall strength.  When used in winter it is not an anti-freeze but works to accelerate the set before the product has a chance to freeze.

It’s especially useful for footings, flatwork and fast-track repair jobs where delays can be costly. Pair it with Fast-Setting Concrete Mix for rapid turnaround projects or with 5000 Plus High Early Strength Concrete Mix for improved cold-weather performance. Always add it to the mix water for optimal dispersion.

Use for:

  • accelerating set and curing times of cement mixes
  • heavy traffic areas or when cold weather is expected

Preparation:

  • always mix cement mix accelerator with water prior to mixing the concrete
  • do not add accelerator directly to any cement product

Placement: Cement mix accelerator can be added directly to the mixing water in the follow proportions:

 Product

32° F (0°C)

25°F (-4°C)

80 lb Concrete Mix or Sand Mix 4 fl oz (0.12 L) 8 fl oz (0.24 L)
80 lb Concrete Mix 3 fl oz (0.09 L)

6 fl oz (0.18 L)

80 lb Mortar Mix 2 fl oz (0.06 L)

4 fl oz (0.12 L)

In cold temperature, use warm water and keep bagged material in warm area until just prior to using. Cement Mix Accelerator is not an anti-freeze. Cold weather protective measures are still required. Concrete should be protected so that the concrete temperature will not fall below freezing for 72 hours.
