Pratley Standard Setting Putty - 100 Grams

*Top rated product*

Great for repairing gravestones - fill cracks, small voids and use in conjunction with Monument Setting Compound to reset monuments.

  • The original Pratley Putty!
  • Was the first of it's kind in the world.
  • Hand moldable adhesive which sets very hard.
  • Ideal for underwater use.
  • The only South African product to go to the moon!

Temperature Considerations (words from the manufacturer)
"Yes indeed, temperature does play a role in the curing of our Epoxy Putties, the recommended temperature to mix and cure Pratley Standard Setting Putty would be room temperature which is between 20-22 degrees Celsius (68-72°F). The product will start to gel (cure) in about 50 minutes, this means it has to be in place before the 50 minute period. It will be set hard in 4 hours and full strength will be achieved in 48 hours.

To answer your question regarding mixing in freezing temperature or very hot temperatures.

    • Freezing Temperature – the product will be very difficult to mix and might even be brittle and the curing time will be extended exponentially, thus I would not recommend to mix the product in freezing temperatures. The best would be to either mix where it is slightly warmer or place the product in the sun for a while, even keeping it in your pocket will increase the temperature.
    • Very Hot Temperature – the product will be very soft and will be easy to mix. The curing will also be affected and will be the opposite than in the freezing temperature thus the product will cure much quicker and will not allow for a prolonged mixing period and will have to be placed in position quite quickly."

    Questions & Answers

    Have a Question?

    Ask a Question
    • Can Pratley Putty be used to attach the upright section of a marble gravestone to its base? Thanks!

Yes. We recommend using Pratley Standard Setting Putty along with Monument Setting Compound to reset monuments.

    • Can you mix the the putty's for color variation? Like the steel with the white to get gray? Or is it better to buy white and mix with black tint to get gray? We tried the stand putty and it didn't match very well.

No, you should not mix these products together.
Solomon Colors can be used for coloring the putty.

    • Pratley Standard Setting putty-what color is the small package? Does it need to be tinted to better match? White and black seem too extreme, I 'll need a grey.

The Pratley Standard Setting dries to an off-white color. It can be pigmented to better match
We also have Pratley Steel Putty which gray in color.

    • I have a little difficulty visualizing how much 100 grams actually is. How long are the sticks ? That might help. I'll be using this product to repair large historic grave markers.

The sticks are about 4" long. For better reference, view a photo here!

Great for monument resetting/reattaching vases, etc to stones

I use it for resetting stones. Works great on dry or slightly damp stones. The single packs seem to be the best value as they can be split for use on two smaller monuments or you can use more than one for when resetting larger multi-tiered monuments.

    Pratley Standard Setting Putty

I attended John's 48-State Tour stop in Lawrence, Kansas. He put this product to good use when resetting a stone. The process looked so straight forward; I am certain I can succeed using it for my projects.

    Single packs

We purchase in single packs. It’s easier and has better shelf life for us. Excellent product especially for multi-tiered monument sets (the Jonathan way) and use with wet stones.
