Questions & Answers

Have a Question?

Ask a Question
  • Is this pre-mixed or a powder that add water to? Looking for a product that can be used to fill-reinforce horizontal crack around base of a gravestone where the head rocks on the base.

You want to use Historic Pointing Mortar for this application. This is preblended and you just add water. We recommend high strength fine or moderate strength fine

  • How many repairs would a 3 pound container complete? I realize it varies, but I'm just looking for a ballpark number. Trying to figure out whether to go bigger :)

It's super tricky to say! For very narrow cracks, the 3lb unit will go very far. If you're planning on on doing much larger repairs, we suggest to move up to the 15lb bucket!

  • 1) for mixing with Akepox 5010 what approximate mix of dust to epoxy would be best for marble tablet infill applications ? 2) what would be the approximate smallest crack for which a dust and Akeptox 5010 mix would be appropriate (i.e. marble tablet repair). I'm wondering if such would be a better choice in some cases than a Type 2 grout.

You want to use more marble dust than you probably think. You want to really bulk it up with the marble dust to create a grainy, yet sticky, mixture. We recommend doing this after repairing a snapped tablet stone break to fill the outer edge so that it blends with the rest of the stone. You can also do this to fill other cracks and holes. It is hard to say exactly how big is too big without seeing a specific example or photo. We always recommend sending photos to sales@atlaspreservation.com if you have specific questions!
